Traditional sloppy joes, although tasty, can be high in calories and fat. The healthier Turkey Sloppy Joes recipe replaces regular ground beef with ground turkey and omits the added sugar.

1 lb ground beef 1 onion, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 6 oz tomato paste 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1 Tbsp chili powder 1 tsp white vinegar 3 Tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp oregano 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 8 hamburger buns |
In large skillet, over medium-high heat, sauté turkey, onion and green pepper 5 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink. Add catsup, relish, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and celery seed. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Slice bread in half, lengthwise, and toast under broiler 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly browned.
To serve, spoon turkey mixture over one half of bread and top with other half. Cut into 8 slices.
